The Wild Hunt

The first issue of the Otherworld: A Fairy Tale and Folklore Magazine is out now.

92 pages of stories, poems, flash fiction and artwork themed on The Wild Hunt.

While I have read fictions that touch upon the wild hunt*, I didn't, up until this project, realise what a woolly area of folklore it was. Listening to a recording of Robert Hutton's public lecture The Wild Hunt and the Witches, is fascinating. You can listen to it here on the Folklore Podcast.

The illustration I submitted is called The Mabon Rade, an energetic parade of faery creatures through the woods on the Autumn Equinox. Here is a detail - To see the full image, get a copy of the zine. Though no doubt I will turn it into a print next year.
