Folk tale week 2025

Folk Tale Week 2025 17-23 November. Illustrator Debra Styer started the challenge, and it is now run by a collective of artists who host it each year. The prompts this year were NIGHT, ECHO, RAIN, BOOK, CHARM, STORM and DAWN.

What I love about this challenge is the community and focus on narrative storytelling. I learn so much from other creators in the highly imaginative way they approach a prompt. My illustrations last year became the kernel of work that is now my 2026 Calendar; it is a worthwhile challenge for me.

I knew that I would be travelling halfway through the week, so I picked a character I had drawn earlier in the year. I have 5 illustrations so far and intend to complete the 7.
