I gave myself a rest after the wild time that was September to December 2024 and got back into the studio slowly. To get myself into 2025 I signed up for The Annual Art Business Reset with Josie Lewis I like her art/art history and marketing for artists' content on Instagram. Her vibe is fun and down to earth. The Art Pie (see pic 4) was one of the activities and it helped me to realistically assess my art practice. My words for the year are Wonder, Imagination, Movement and Patience. They define my wish to create more whimsical art, experiment with colour and movement with glass and to slow down and let the process take the time it needs.
I'm working on one main project for the next few months- casting 40 hands for Brendan Van Hek. I needed to make a new rubber mould as the first one had stretched too much and eventually tore.
This month's work table is mainly wax hands, cats, keys and bunnies.

Sunflowers have delighted us in the garden this month and the colours match my new wax!

Left: New white wax pellets with the liquid 'Rust' dye flowing through
Centre and right: I have been coldworking some glass tests from last year. These are heat-flattened very thin cups of glass. I love the swishy colour veils and bubbles. Not quite sure what they will be yet. Thanks to KAH glass for your scraps!

Upper left: The Art Pie
Upper right: My first Canberra Book club has been reading books together for 10 years and we celebrated. I made 6 literary 'tiaras' for the occasion. The pattern I bought from was skillfully developed by Lucas Papel Tijera - the pattern I bought is the Princess Crown headband, you can slide a basic headband through the design so size is less of an issue. Despite my practice in folding paper it took me a whole day to make all 6! A satisfying day though.
Bottom line: Various stages of re-making a silicone mould and plaster case for the hand.
